Blackmores 45 Plus contains herbs used in traditional Western medicine for the relief of menopause symptoms such as hot flushes, sweating, sleep disturbances, emotional upsets, nervous irritability and mood swings.

How it works
Contains Dong Quai which is an ancient Chinese medicine which has traditionally been indicated for female disorders such as dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea, irregular menstruation and symptoms associated with menopause. Black cohosh is also traditionally used for the relief of menstrual symptoms, particularly those associated with pain and cramping.
Hypericum (St. John's Wort) is indicated for the temporary relief of stress, menopause-related anxiety.
Dosage
Adults - Take 2 to 3 tablets daily with meals, or as professionally prescribed.
Children (under 12 years) - Only as professionally prescribed.
Cautions
- Not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

- St John's Wort can effect the way some prescription medicines work

Medicine interactions
- Consult your health care professional before use if you are taking, or think you may be taking, cyclosporine, oral contraceptives (birth control pills), warfarin, protease inhibitors (antiviral drugs), simvastatin or irinotecan. St John?s wort has been noted to increase the action of the hepatic P450 enzyme system, which may decrease the efficacy of these medications.
- Consult your health care professional before use if you are taking prescription antidepressants (tricyclics or SSRIs). St John?s wort may interfere with the action of these medications.
- If taking bisphosphonates (osteoporosis drugs), tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, thyroid hormones or calcium channel blockers (angina and blood pressure drugs) separate doses by at least 2 hours. Calcium may decrease the absorption and efficacy of these medications.
- Consult your healthcare professional before use if you are taking digoxin. St John?s wort may interfere with the action of this medication.
