Directions / Dosage
Every 8 hours orally, if required.
Children 2 to 6 years: 2.5ml
Children 6 to 12 years: 5ml
Adults and children over 12 years: 10ml.
The use of metric measuring device for accurate dose measurement is recommended.
Indications
Dimetapp Chesty Cough Elixir is a pleasant tasting, sugar free formulation that provides symptomatic relief from congested chests and coughs due to the common cold.
Dimetapp Chesty Cough Elixir contains the expectorant Guaiphenesin, which increases the flow of natural secretions along the lower respiratory tract. It also contains Bromhexine Hydrochloride to liquefy and breakdown the secretions. This combination helps break up a cough and loosens congestion so it can be coughed up and removed from the chest.
Ingredients
Each 10ml of oral liquid contains:
Guaiphenesin 200mg
Bromhexine hydrochloride 8mg.
Also contains:
Sodium benzoate, sodium saccharin.
Warnings
If cough persist for more than one week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache, consult a doctor. If you have a persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or cough accompanied by excessive phlegm, consult a doctor before taking this product. If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients seek the advice of a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Do not exceed 3 doses in any 24 hours period. Not to be used for children under 2 years of age.
This product contains sorbitol (10.5g/30ml), which may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.
