Adults: The usual initial dose is 15-45ml daily. After three days the dose may be reduced to 10-25ml daily for maintenance.
Children (under medical supervision): The usual doses are:
7 to 14 years: 15ml initially (3 days), 10ml maintenance.
1 to 6 years: 10ml initially (3 days), 5 to 10ml maintenance.
Infants under 1 year: 5ml initially (3 days) and 3 to 5ml maintenance.
May be taken mixed with fruit juice, water or milk.
As a general rule, patients with constipation should drink plenty of water and increase the amount of fibre in their diet.
Use in children: It is recommended that if Duphalac syrup is given to infants and children, this should be done under medical supervision.
Prolonged use of laxatives is undesirable.

Each 5ml Contains: 3.34g lactulose and less than or equal to 0.55g galactose and 0.30g lactose.
