diet, a lack of exercise, ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement,

serious if left for too long without treatment. Understanding causes,

WHAT IS LAC-DOL USED FOR?
LAC-DOL is used for the treatment of constipation, including chronic or habitual constipation.
LAC-DOL can also be used in patients with severe liver damage however
these patients should be referred to their doctor or pharmacist.
WHAT IS IN LAC-DOL?
LAC-DOL is a sweet, colourless to yellow, clear syrup containing
lactulose 3.4g/5mL. Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide, a sugar
molecule composed of two smaller sugar molecules bonded together, in
this case fructose and galactose. Each 5mL of LACDOL also contains no
more than 0.4g galactose, 0.41g lactose and 0.27g epilactose.
HOW DOES LAC-DOL WORK?
Lactulose is not metabolized or absorbed by the body. Rather, the
bacteria in the colon or large bowel break the lactulose down into
acids. These acids pull water into the colon and soften the stool.
Peristalsis, the movement of the food through the intestines, is also
promoted through the actions of lactulose. Bowel evacuation becomes
much easier as a result.
HOW LONG DOES LAC-DOL TAKE TO WORK?
Generally, it may take between 24 and 72 hours before normal defecation occurs.
